Shaushka has make some grave decisions in her determination to build a career in healthcare.  Those decisions cost her more than she ever bargained for. Suffering the pain of rejection through the mate bond and being ban from the pride had been unexpected consequences of the instinctual urge to help people with her abilities. In an attempt to recover, she discovers those sacrifices may not have been worth making for her success. No longer able to suffer the agony of her choices, she quits her job three years shy of her 10-year contract ending, leaving the license she gave up everything to earn and finally closing the chapter on her heart.

 

Refusing to allow herself anymore hurt, she embarks on rebuilding her career from the home within the legal limitations dictated by the city governing boards. During her evolution she finds an ally more broken than she is. His needs are put before hers in a desperate attempt to save him from feeling the pains she lives with; however, she wasn't the only one who made poor choices in life and each of their pasts come back for what they feel they are owed. Together they find a way to navigate life's obstacles, hoping to create a new fate for their existence. Shaushka rediscovers what is important to her while attempting to heal only to find herself once again forced to choose if she is willing to make a permanent sacrifice that could change everything.
